Welcome to ko.fm's Privacy Policy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our URL shortening service.
When you use ko.fm or the ko.fm browser extension, we handle only the information needed to provide and protect the URL shortening service:
The browser extension sends a URL to https://ko.fm over HTTPS only after you request that it be shortened. The URL is used to create or return the corresponding ko.fm short link.
The extension stores up to 20 recent items—original URL, short URL, and creation time—in chrome.storage.local on your device. This history is not synchronized through Chrome Sync. You can delete individual items or clear the entire history from the extension.
We use the collected information to:
We do not sell extension user data or use it for personalized advertising, creditworthiness, or lending purposes.
Shortened URLs are retained while the shortening service continues to provide the requested link. Extension history remains only in the browser's local storage until you remove it, clear the extension data, or uninstall the extension. Technical request records may be retained as reasonably needed for security, abuse prevention, and service reliability.
We use HTTPS for extension-to-service communication and implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect information against unauthorized or unlawful processing, accidental loss, destruction, or damage.
